As some of you may know I was nominated by Blend It Like Saza to do her, ‘Not my style’ challenge. After she trialed blue eye shadow (which looked fabulous darling!) I was challenged to try green. Now don’t get me wrong I have tried green eye shadow and admittedly own some but I never made it look all that good. Some may say that the look I concocted isn’t too appealing and it took me quite some time to get accustomed to it. However overall I was very happy with it and this is what it looked like:
To begin with I thought that I looked like a tree with the combination of the browns and green; but as I stared at myself in the mirror as though I were Narcissus it gradually grew on me.
I achieved this look by using my new love! The I Heart Make Up Chocolate Bar Palette has become my go to everyday since I bought it, and yes I intend to buy a few more palettes from the collection. It is a drugstore dupe for the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette (though it too is beautiful I Heart Make Up prices have my heart). The product itself smells like chocolate which is always a bonus for a chocolate addict like myself and the formula is lovely. The shadows are very pigmented and blend oh so lovely. The packaging is brilliant as it looks like a partially melted chocolate bar (now who doesn’t love a bit of melted chocolate?)
To start the eye look I put shadow 1 through my crease as it adds a lovely warm hue to the look. As usual I built this to quite an intense colour as it is my favourite colour in the palette so I have a tendency to get a bit heavy handed. Following from that I put shadow 2 about two-thirds of the way through my crease and a little lower down so that the caramel shade could be seen above it. Once that was blended out I applied shadow 3 to the outer third of my eye and softly blended it to prevent any harsh lines. To balance the look and stop my eyelids from looking like they were about to give way from the weight of the shadow, I took shadow 2 under my lash line to create a smoothish line (I am no expert when it comes to this lark I just know I am slightly addicted). Now was the point where I added the green shadow to the look.
This came from an old friend, my Miss Sporty Army Style Smokey. I only used the green on the bottom left and I packed that only my eyelid and up to my crease. After that I then went back into the crease with shadow 2 from the chocolate palette to blend any harsh lines. To highlight my inner corner I chose shadow 4 and packed that on to add a real pop of colour (The intention is to blind others not yourself). Finally I finished the look by highlighting under my brow bone with shadow 5, then curled my eyelashes and applied Rimmel’s Supercurler Mascara in Extreme Black (my holy grail mascara). To bring it all together I used my current beau brown lipstick, Maybelline Coloursens Matte Nude Lipstick in Brown Sugar (every time I pick it up I start singing the Rolling Stone’s song)
I won’t bore you with all the other products I used to beat my face with but I will leave artistically taken photos down below for you to peruse. If you want to know shades or what I think of them don’t be afraid to ask.
This has given me some inspiration as to the eye make up that I will be doing for Paddy’s Day (only 22 days to go if you were wondering) But you never can tell I may decide on something completely different by the time it comes around.
So I’ve whittled on enough but I will say I enjoyed doing this look and am considering doing another using this palette.
